In terms of high energy costs in Northern Communities-we need to retrofit communities with solar panels, perhaps have a pilot project on solar energy? The technology exists but we need to put it together and work for Indigenous Communities, creating job opportunities for residents.

Aki Energy in Winnipeg has an amazing model of geothermal installations to reduce energy requirements, which they do by training Indigenous community members to install and maintain the systems, so they create jobs, develop employment skills, and ensure that the systems can be repaired by local people.  Plus, the installation is financed by a pay-as-you-save program through Manitoba Hydro so there are no up-front costs.  Definitely an example worth expanding http://www.akienergy.com/
